Unfortunately, there are many reasons why someone’s microbiome can be disrupted and cause issues. Microbiome issues can be the result of stress, lack of sleep, food intolerances or allergies, medications, infection or chronic conditions.   • Upset stomach – this can include stomach issues such as gas, bloating, diarrhea, constipation, stomach cramping, stomach pain and heartburn. This is usually caused by the microbiome being out of sync as a balanced gut with healthy flora has less issues digesting foods and eliminating waste.

This imbalance makes it difficult for your body to absorb nutrients, regulate blood sugar and store fat. A common cause of this could be from SIBO.
  • Sleep Disturbances – when our gut is out of sorts our hormones can be affected which ultimately affect our sleep. Serotonin, which is largely produced in our gut and affects our mood and sleep, can get out of sync. Chronic sleep issues also put you at risk for fibromyalgia.
  • Skin Issues – a damaged gut can contribute to skin conditions like eczema or breakouts. This is largely caused from food allergies or sensitivities.
  • Autoimmune conditions – an unhealthy gut can increase overall inflammation in our body, which can trigger autoimmune conditions.
  • Food Sensitivities – this is when the gut responds to a certain food with inflammation and makes it difficult to digest the food.
