Anyone else jump on board the green smoothie or green juice trend? Well it is here to stay and there is a craze for both of them and a critical difference to both of them which comes down to a micronutrient level and digestion level. With a smoothie you consume the entirety of the fruits and vegetables that go into the mix, including the fiber. A juicer, on the other hand, filters out much of the fiber from the fruits and vegetables you are juicing, leaving you with the liquid juice and the fibrous pulp, which is discarded. But on the upper hand the lack of fiber in juices gives them one advantage over smoothies: They cram in a lot more nutrients per serving which means more micronutrients! So what’s our solution?! Do both!!! Call us crazy but it’s possible – juice part of the vegetables and fruits like your cucumber, kale, lemon, apple and then blend the remainder with some greens, ginger, more cucumber, add in your flax oil, frozen fruit like banana , and you have a pretty perfect smoothie juice combo. Here is a video of our owner Tessa making her favorite morning smoothie.
