Detox Soup

Ingredients

A plant-based diet can be one of the healthiest ways to live. Plant-based diets should contain plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables. Because vegan diets often rely heavily on these staples, they tend to be higher in vitamins, minerals, phytochemicals, and fiber. Healthy plant-based diets are abundant with vitamins B1, C, and E, folic acid, magnesium, and iron while also being low in cholesterol and saturated fats. Certain food groups often have negative impacts on our health without us even realizing it such as dairy, grains, sugar, and legumes. These things often affect our energy levels and can make them inconsistent or even non-existent. Aches and pains can be caused by inflammation from these foods and could even halt weight loss altogether. Even skin issues, digestive problems can all relate to these foods. Therefore, we are going to strip them from your diet altogether. Cut out all the psychologically unhealthy, hormone-unbalancing, inflammatory foods, and reset your system. That is why we always suggest our detox soup as an option for resetting your system.

Cook

To prep for the soup cut all your veggies up in a desired size and place them to the side. Obtain a large soup pot and put all the water in it and start to boil on high. Do this while you are boiling the water for your soup. An optional tasty bonus is to saute your onions and garlic in a little olive oil before placing them in the soup.

  • In a large pot, add the water and turn on the heat to medium-high.

  • After it’s hot, add the onion and garlic. Sauté for 2 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  • Add the celery, carrots, broccoli, tomatoes and fresh ginger.

  • Stir and cook for 3 minutes, adding in extra water or broth as needed (another 1/4 cup).

  • Stir in the turmeric, cinnamon, and cayenne pepper plus salt and pepper to taste.

  • Add in the water or vegetable broth and bring to a boil.

  • Reduce heat and simmer for 10-15 minutes or until vegetables are soft.

  • Add in the kale, cabbage and lemon juice near the last 2-3 minutes of simmering.
