Even when you close your eyes and you take a few long breaths you can still picture all of the worry that’s been swirling around in your head. Clearing your mind is actually going to be one of the most therapeutic things that you can do if you’re trying to get rid of the feelings of anxiety, depression or being overwhelmed.

While you may pack a joint case and everything that you need for that and take yourself off somewhere quietly to relax, it’s not often the same thing as clearing your mind completely. You need to be able to carve out your time to clear your mind and focus. When you do this, you can work more efficiently on what needs doing, and concentrate on life as you want it to be.   • Write a to-do list. Writing down what you need to accomplish can often help you to stay organized and this can help you to unpack your mind. They say that a cluttered home leads to a cluttered mind, but when you’re writing a list to organize everything, things move in their own order in your head. Instead of there being a cloud of problems, there is now a list of problems but this way you can tick them off one by one.
  • Learn to say no. You can’t always say yes to everything because you have limited time and resources. One of the worst things that you can do in your life and say yes to absolutely everyone and everything. In work and in life you have to prioritize and make decisions about what you need, and it’s one of the easiest ways to clear any conflicts in your head. If you start becoming stronger in saying no to others, you will reduce your stress and have valuable time for yourself instead. You cannot help other people if you’re too busy feeling busy in your head.
  • Avoid procrastination. If you are working or studying, don’t pick up your phone and don’t straight from what you are doing. Give yourself an allocated slot of time in which to complete an activity, if you don’t complete the activity try and reflect back on why. Procrastination is a thief – it takes your time, it takes your concentration, and it clouds your mind with all of the things that you haven’t done that you should be doing.
